Council Officer Training Programme

 

Who is this programme for?

This is a comprehensive, statutory programme for practitioners and managers who undertake council officer functions as defined within the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 within the course of their duties.

Before starting this programme, participants must have a minimum of 6 months relevant post qualifying experience, maintain appropriate registration (with SSSC or other relevant body) and be prioritised to undertake this programme by their service.

 By the end of this programme, participants will have the knowledge, skills and identified developmental needs to effectively meet ASP core competencies, lead ASP investigations and undertake all aspects of the ASP council officer role and duties.

 How will this programme be delivered?

This programme has been redesigned and adapted as blended learning. This includes direct inputs and learning, self-directed reading and the use of reflective and supervision learning tools. All sessions and inputs will be delivered remotely via MS Teams at this time, with some self-directed learning and reflective tasks between sessions.   

When will this programme start?

Two separate programme cohorts are planned, one beginning 25 August 2021 and the other 3 February 2022. Participants must be available to attend all MS Teams sessions for their cohort, all sessions run 9.30am -1pm
