PROMOTING PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
It is really important for us to try to remain as physically active as possible particularly when our movement outdoors is so restricted. Many of you will be engaging with social media which has lots of tips/resources on how you can keep yourself physically active indoors.
For frailer and older people it is really important that we encourage as much activity as possible. This video provides some suggestions on how you might do this.
NHS Choices has further information on exercises for older people:
The following Chartered Society of Physiotherapy video demonstrates some strength and balance exercises which you could encourage someone to do as long as they are usually steady on their feet and have a strong support to hold onto e.g. a table, the back of a sturdy chair or the kitchen sink. Please do not advise these if you are in any doubt.
The following video clip demonstrates some exercises which are good to help strength and balance and reduce the risk of falling.
